Hello!!
Another painting in progress..."Grow". Sketched this a few years back and I had a very long canvas crowding my tiny studio so I thought I would attach one to the other. The canvas is 150cm x 60cm.
Plenty to do at the moment. Commissions before Christmas, orders and markets - this week I will be at the Bris Style Indie Twilight Market in King Georges Square on Friday night.. Should be a busy night with lots of other Christmas activities running at the same time.

These
are the progress photos of the commission I finished last night. Its a
large painting (90 x 120cm) for a family who have been waiting quite a
while. I'll post the finished painting in the next day or two. Its
pretty busy times at the moment. Its also hot!! Today was in the high
30s I think - so Im glad Im painting over night instead of during the
day.

In progress, yet another painting - this one titled "Intuitive".
The mediums Im using are a mixture of impasto for texture, acrylic paints for the main
body, ink and paint pens for the detail and collaged elements. I have
been printing up images from my own artwork and using them in the
collage as well as using various patterned papers and fabric trimmings.
The central bird on the boat is the Australian magpie. We have a family hanging around at the moment - the mother, the father and the three squawking kids. A picture of the parents below (with some other irrelevant pics thrown in :)).

Hello, hello.
Well the busyness really starts to set in now - many people must be starting to feel it ! :).
It means for me that I have a lot of markets on so I am having to complete paintings in between the commissions that I am doing. I am working on a very large one for Leisl and her family and a slightly smaller one for Robyn and her family. After those there are still lots of people waiting. So I have decided that once I am finished all the scheduled commissions that I will be stopping until further notice. I am going to continue to do the personal mandalas as they are quite different to the dream series and I dont want to stop them all together however I wont be taking more on until next March.

Over the next two weeks, as well as my usual Eumundi market, I will also be in Brisbane a couple of times. This coming Friday for the Bris Style Twilight Market in King Georges Square and again on the 4th November at Southbank for the Young Designers Market.

Markets, markets, markets.....
Taking up a large part of my week at the moment. You can see me at Eumundi Markets on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I am frequently at the Young Designer Market at Southbank in Brisbane - which is on the first sunday of every month and this week I will be attending my first Bris Style Indie Twilight Market in Brisbane at St Georges Square - Friday night from 5 - 9pm. These markets run 4 - 5 times throughout the year so I hope to be there in the lead up to Christmas as well.

Personal mandala for Ruth and Mark.
40 cm Diameter
Pencil and acrylic on watercolour paper
Hello! :)
One mandala done and one to go - almost done...will be back soon with it.
Also...a little note about commissions - I won't be taking anymore on this year as I am quite behind schedule. I will be finishing off the ones I have booked in and will start to take new commissions from next February. I wanted to thank everyone for their ongoing support with these works - its an honour to have a person entrust you their details to make that deeper level connection through art - its something that I have enjoyed very much over the years and I know I will continue to do so.

"Wandering Star"
Acrylic on Canvas
50 x 75 cm
Original Sold
Just a little note about this painting. It was initially inspired by the title with the same name from Portishead. Looking a little further into the meaning of wandering star I discovered the info below from wiki..."In antiquity the classical planets were the non-fixed objects visible in the sky, known to various ancient cultures. The classical planets were therefore the Sun and Moon and the five non-earth planets of our solar system closest to the sun (and closest to the Earth); all easily visible without a telescope....ancient astronomers noted how certain lights moved across the sky with the other stars. They called these objects asteres planetai, or wandering stars."
Anyway - based on that snippet of info I have my wandering star - she is depicted as the earth. She is leaving a trail of hearts in her path and her moon is close by her . The 5 planets are visible in the distance with the sun behind her head - which also represents the star that she is from the other planets perspective.

Snuck this painting in this week....still working on the personal mandalas and will be back shortly with them.
Once again I'm exploring the patchwork theme and I love the tactile experience of working with paper and fabrics. I've inlcuded a close up detail in her tail.

"Shapeshifter"
Mixed media on canvas
45 x 60 cm
Original Sold
In her shawl is written a zen saying - "Knock on the sky and listen to the sound" .
Her hand is a paw and is based on a snippet of one of my dreams from years ago. I had bumped into an Iroquian man in some traditional dress. He had his arms crossed and as I looked at him one arm turned into a foxes paw. I remember it being quite vivid.
