Here is what I have been up to for the past couple of weeks. Below are 5 sketches for 5 commissions I have started and will be doing over the next few weeks.
I have also begun the sketches for two different picture books that I will be working on this year. One, we hope to print by July. I have made the entire storyboard and I must say its very exciting to see the flow of a story through pictures. I will talk more about that once the images start to be finished. I've included a sketch of one of the images above - but can't say much more about the story yet.
I love to see the preparation sketches! Do you have a very clear idea of how the painting will look before you do the sketches, or do you have to redraw them several times before reaching the final design? xx

ReplyDeleteThe sketches for the canvases are quite spontaneous and often I get them how I want from the start. The sketches for the mandalas take a bit more time to put together because of the many layers but still it's often the first image that comes to mind that I place in the center.
