"Orphans"

75 x 50 cm (29.5 x 19.5 inches)
Acrylic and paper collage on Canvas.

Original Sold.

Here is the new elephant painting...finally. I sketched it up in January after watching a documentary on orphaned African elephants.

I have been ultra busy. Just got back from the markets in Canberra yesterday and have one more to go before I will wind down for the year. I have many orders to fill and I am still working on my final commission for Francesca.

The weather has been so hot and today we have some soft drizzle...wonderful to break up the dry. I'm looking forward to heading north for a few days after Christmas and to get some of that ocean in that I crave and then we will see what happens from there.

Hello! :)
Just a little reminder to the people in Canberra that I will be at the Bus Depot markets tomorrow (29th November). If you can't make it tomorrow I will be heading back there one more time before Christmas on the 13th December.

"Sisters In All Lifetimes"
New pendant in my shop :)!

Monday, November 09, 2009

Hello :)!
This is one of the last two commissions I am working on for this year. It's for Leigh and the next one is for Francesca. After that I will be able to start taking commissions again from January.

In the lead up to Christmas I will be starting weekly markets beginning the 21st November. There is an updated list on the right hand column of my blog. I haven't lined up markets for Sydney this year but I will be at Glenbrook in the lower Blue Mtns, Canberra and a one off trip to Milthorpe (which is located near Orange in central west NSW).

If we dont happen to 'bump' into each other at any of those markets I have most of my products available through my etsy shop or if you would rather not use Etsy drop me an email and I can sort out any orders for you.
Alternatively there is a list of 'brick and mortar' shops located within Australia where you can find some of my things (check left hand column of my blog). The Nook Co-op in Leura has the biggest range of items as I maintain that myself.

I've had a blog makeover! Hope it looks good from your side too.
I'll have to work on the website next.
...
Last night
I was rummaging thorough some of my Tarot Mandalas and found this one - I only did one mandala from the minor arcana and here it is :"The Three of Cups".

In other news...gradually getting through my commissions - currently working on Kristin's family mandala. I've also been working through some of my own paintings. The one below is called "Wish" and should be finished shortly, followed closely by "The Dream Tree".

I made some 'prettier' photos for my calendar - have a look here - and I have decided to do a mandala calander as well...when I get around to it. I'm not sure if I will do the animal calendar yet - I will see how I go for time.

I did an all nighter last night..and it seems like I'm doing one now too...but I have finished at least one calendar. Took me a while to work out how to make it but Im happy with the result. I may have to try for better photos later on but for now it will do. Ive just listed it in my Etsy Shop also and it comes with a matching magnet - I think they look very nice together as a gift.

"Travel Together"

40 x 50 cm (15 x 19 inches)
Acrylic on Canvas

Original Sold

Hello!! This weekend was very productive. I did a market on Saturday and on Sunday I got around to completing 3 sketches for current commissions ( that are still way behind schedule) and then finally - this little painting above ( I think it's a sweetie).

I have also started to plan out and make a calendar for next year. I have been wanting to do this for a couple of years but have never had the time. This year I am going to squeeze it in. I will probably do two differently themed calendars. One for my most recent work and then one with animals from the dream series. So that should be available in my etsy shop over the next couple of days.

Although I have a hundred billion things that I must do besides paint my own paintings this particular painting was calling out loud and clear today - 'get me started'(!!!). I picked out 3 canvases to work on - dabbling a bit of paint here and there but by the end of the session the one above got my full attention. She looks like she's waiting for a bus but in fact she's contemplating disappearing into another world. It's called "Portal".

Rabbit's aren't the most popular animal in Australia, they cause a a lot of problems for native wildlife and they reproduce too quickly...however..there is something magical about a land in between that show a unicorn and a rabbit popping their head's out to invite you in. Wonder if she will make it..??

Below is a picture from this past weekend's fair at Leura. Wow what a busy couple of days and so much positive feedback- it was fantastic - thank you :). I stole the picture below directly from
planettreasures blog...so thanks in advance Tess :) (!!)

I've hit 2000 sales on Etsy! Wow what an effort (I think other people who use Etsy will know what I mean :)!). I've spent a lot of time on this site to get to this point. In the beginning, just over 3 years ago I was determined to make it work. Back then Etsy was a teensy bit smaller with a relatively tiny art section - now, in all its finery, it is teeming with artists and craftspeople from all over the world.
It took quite a bit of dedication, and quite a lot of research to see how it could work best for me. In the end momentum seems to rule the day.
Thanks Etsy and thanks to the people who have supported my shop for these last few years :)!!

In other news I wanted to mention a couple of brick and mortar shops that you can now find some of my items in. "Uttam London" in Paddington, Sydney have recently taken on some of my work and "The Stonehouse Gallery" in Warrandyte, Melbourne has a large and varied selection of work also.

Hello People :)
I've done a couple of new paintings this week that were intended for the Mountain Makers Etsy Exhibit . This is a local arts and crafts show that we are putting on this weekend in Glenbrook. However they sold already (which I am of course very happy about :)) so I'm busily trying to finish at least one more. The one above is called "Dream Tree". I thought it was about time I did a dreaming tree. The branches are holding fairies and elves and the girl at the tree stands beside a unicorn. There will be lots of little added details in there as I go to make it a little more magical and/or mystical.

I've always had a thing for stones - although this one is looking like a giant boulder.
I sketched this up after seeing a documentary called "Spirit Stones" on the ABC.

"Spirit Stones is an exceptional film set in the southwest corner of Australia. On many occasions in the 1940s and 50s stones fell on Aboriginal (Noongar) camps. These 'showers' delivered stones in locations up to 250 kilometres apart, falling at various places for hours, sometimes days and even weeks and months. Landowners, Aboriginal farm labourers and inquisitive townsfolk were all witness to falling stones. Though these events stretched over many years not one person was ever hurt...."

Hello!! :)
A little update about upcoming markets and fairs. I have a busy month ahead starting with the Glenbrook Market this weekend on Saturday. The following weekend, on the 26th and 27th September, I am involved in an exhibition by local Etsy artists and friends from the Blue Mountains. This will be held at Glenbrook Hall, Blue Mountains. Above is a banner with some examples of the crafts people involved as well as a link to the blog with more detailed information.

On the 4th of October I hope to get down to the Bus Depot Markets in Canberra and then the following weekend is the Leura Fair on the 10th and 11th of October...which is always a great event to welcome spring in the upper Blue Mountains.

The finished painting for Paula, Darcy and Niamh.
As you can see it was three canvases painted together to carry the landscape scene through.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Just an update of where I am at with Paula's painting.
I'm almost finished - just have to pretty it up with lots more detail - and tone down a few bits and pieces to create the right balance of colours and shapes.
