Some of the new sketches that have popped into my life recently ....

I am off for a couple of days. Those people who live in Canberra and who are interested in my work I will be at the Bus Depot Markets this Sunday from 10am - 4pm. If you can't make it I will also be at the following market on the 6th December.

A little update as to where I am at....hmmm..busy. I am still way behind with my commissions and the new sketches in my sketch book may have to wait to come alive until after Christmas.

I have spent the whole week printing and preparing for the upcoming markets - making magnets, mirrors, bookmarks, jewellery, prints and those cards which disappear so quickly. With over 70 designs in the dream series it takes a fair amount of time to make sure I have at least 1 of everything. Then there are the mandalas to consider as well. I don't just print the ones that sell better - I like to have a large variety of items and give everything a chance - people have different tastes after all. The variety adds to the excitement of the search for the thing that suits...well I hope it does.

But then I guess there are those that find it overwhelming also...:)....too much choice.

Hello :)
Just a note to let people know I will be at the Leura Fair this coming Saturday and Sunday (11th and 12th October). The fair runs from 9 - 4 and is located at the Leura Mall in the Blue Mountains.

I will also be doing regular markets from now on in the lead up to Christmas so keep an eye on my website for dates and locations. I hope to get in 4 -5 markets in Canberra during this time as well.

Thank you to the people who could take a peek at my exhibition - I had lovely feedback and support making it all the more worthwhile. Thanks again! :) The pictures came out a bit blurry ( I don't seem to be able to get good photos ever) but I have included one above that my friend Peta passed on.

I will be exhibiting at Bramaer Gallery in Springwood from the 19th September through to the 5th of October - and , like last years exhibition, I will be sharing the three rooms of the gallery with another female artist. I hope to exhibit around 15 works - many of them new (fingers crossed).

Anyway - here is the first painting - more to come.

I have also included the sketch to show the differences between a spontaneous 30 second drawing and the overall outcome in painted form. It's interesting that no matter how rough the sketch the essence of the image is always stronger (to me) in the sketch then the painting.

Even though I am happy with the outcome of this painting - and the sweetness of it - I see more of what of what I would have liked in the sketch. Mainly in the appearance of the girl herself.

In the sketch she seems more unconscious - more led along her path by something else, less in control of where she's going. I see that in the angle of her head and in the drooping of her shoulders. How her arms tuck into her body - and the flow of the body in general.

I have been really behind with all of my commissions - but here is the first of a few more to come. This one was for Peta - and below is a picture of the stages of it's growth.

I've always loved the name Gabriel and of course I am drawn to the Archangel also. People keep asking me if I have any work with boys starring in them and I must say I don't have many. My boys always end up looking like girls anyway. So here finally is a girlish looking melancholy boy called Gabriel. He's on a journey I guess, away from his base - his home, he has a companion for only a part of the way and then he's on his own for whatever the next phase awaits.

On researching the Archangel Gabriel - (after I did the majority of the painting ) I discovered that his colour is blue, that he carries a trumpet (which I then added), and sometimes a lily. He is often associated with the feminine side - with water, the moon, intuition, psychic ability, prophecies, visions and dreams.

He is also known as the guide for unborn souls during the gestation period. Oddly one of my original sketches of this painting had a pregnant women in the background before I changed it to the current composition. It's funny how you key into universal symbols without even realizing whilst sketching.

Anyway it's all so sweet I think. I hope you like it as well.

Hello! :)
Well it's been a while sinse I've posted here - and my aplogies to people who check back regularly. I had a few unexpected changes crop up in my life and as a result I've been a bit slow in posting. I've also had to cancel one of my exhibitions but I will still be exhibiting in September.

In the meantime I have managed to finish this new piece inspired from Lewis Carrol's "Alice in Wonderland". I've used some new oval canvases that I found and will probably do more based on this shape.

Hello there! :)
Well I've had some days away for a much needed little break. The boys in my life and myself went north to hang out at the beach for a couple of days. As a result I have a few more sketches in my sketch book and ready to get stuck into some new work.

I have also added some new silver plated cameo pendants to my etsy shop. I think they are very nice and fresh so please have a browse :)!.

Hello! :)
Here are some new bookmarks that I have made up using beads on the tassles.
They will be available on Etsy shortly and I will have them with all the other bits and pieces at Kirribilli Markets ( Milsons Point, Sydney - just the other side of the Harbour Bridge) this Sunday on Mothers Day.
